The Ethics Application: An open conversation with PhDs studying cities
MUI PGR Committee is hosting our MUI PGR Colloquia, a series of workshops and events that aim to provide a collaborative and inspiring platform for PGR students researching urban contexts. The first workshop - “The Ethics Application: An Open Conversation with PhDs Studying Cities"- will be held on 10 April 2024 from 16:00 to 17:30; the event location will be notified at a later time.
We invite Melissa Crane (PhD Candidate in Social Anthropology), Gloria Muñoz (PhD Candidate in Planning and Environmental Management), and Vicente Yañez (PhD Candidate in Social Anthropology) to share their experiences on the ethics application. Ethical clearance is a cornerstone of responsible research practice, particularly when conducting fieldwork that involves direct engagement with people. The process of gaining ethical approval can be daunting. This workshop aims to provide a platform for PhD students studying urban contexts to share their experiences, challenges, and strategies for obtaining ethical clearance for their fieldwork. The workshop will involve presenters giving examples from their own experiences, followed by an informal discussion/Q&A. Refreshments will be provided.
